Literature Text

He is, the sea
on this gutted globe
of vast breaking sadness.
I see into him,
he sees out of me—
lonely contrast
sulking to
and fro.

Aimless heart,
small temper;
It is the way
he carries on,
when others
tremble, absolute.

Forged, with
worthless lies
to set truths afire—
now nothingness, absence,
cold.

He is the sea, spent,
exhausted;
but never
without a wave.
I've tinkered with this poem quite a bit. Let me know what you all think, please?

First version:

You are almost the sea
on this gutted globe of
vast breaking sadness
I see into you
as you see out of me
lonely contrast sulking to
and fro

Big heart, small temper--
it is the way you carry on
while others panic, blur, forget
and flee

Darling, my approach
is love according to the
sparks when our eyes meet

and I know more
than you can say
for I always
place your voice back

Fantastic closing, gal. Understated, but great imagery.
